5 August 2024: Visit by H.E. Dr. Karomidin Gadoev Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to MARA Corporation.

 “We are a young country which eager to learn more from a country like Malaysia,” said Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Karomidin Gadoev during an official visit to MARA Corp today. The excellency said Malaysia and Uzbekistan share many similarities, especially in number of population, vibrancy of the economy, and spiritual connectivity for decades.

 “Of course as a young country that gained independence in 1991, our country is relatively younger compared to Malaysia. We have so much to learn from you (Malaysia),” said Karomidin during the visit.

Also present, were representatives from the Malaysia Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MUCCI); Chairman MARA Corporation, Mohamad Rafi Shahzada, and senior management members of the group and subsidiaries. With over 37 million population, the Central Asia republic recorded some USD101 billion worth of gross domestic product last year. Meanwhile, Mohamad Rafi urged the setting up of a steering committee, aimed at formulating a multiprong strategy in collaboration with the republic.

The committee, to be chaired by MARA Corporation’s Interim Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Dato’ Amir Azhar Ibrahim, will be exploring the potential of exploration in education, technical vocational education and training (TVET), and commercial partnerships.
